College Students Field Work
The field work programme for Social Work students at Chengalpattu Rural Development Society (CRDS) provides an opportunity for students to gain practical experience in community development and social welfare interventions. Every year, CRDS welcomes Social Work students from various colleges to undertake field placements, internships, rural camps, and research activities. Through direct engagement with communities, students learn professional social work practices while contributing to the welfare and development of vulnerable groups, including women, children, persons with disabilities, youth, elderly people, and marginalized families.
The programme bridges the gap between classroom learning and real-life social work practice by exposing students to community organization, case work, group work, project implementation, advocacy, documentation, monitoring, and evaluation. Students work alongside CRDS staff and community stakeholders to understand social issues and participate in sustainable development initiatives.
