About Chengalpattu Rural Development Society (CRDS)
Chengalpattu Rural Development Society (CRDS) is a non-profit organization established in 1995. It is the official social service wing of the Diocese of Chengalpattu. We are committed to the upliftment of the poor and marginalized in the Chengalpattu and Kancheepuram districts.
Our focus is on empowering women, children, and youth through education, skill training, and community organization. We believe in a participatory approach to development, working with the people to identify their needs and find sustainable solutions.

Aims & Objectives of CRDS
- To promote integrated human development, particularly of the socially and economically marginalized sections of the society, without distinction of caste, creed or color, through the best methods available.
- To help the socially and economically disadvantaged groups, the landless, small and marginal farmers and other neglected sections of people to help themselves.
- To combat effectively human misery, unjust exploitation and mass poverty and strive to establish a just, human, responsible, participatory, peaceful and prosperous Social order.
- To promote freedom of the oppressed, distressed and poverty-stricken groups of children, women, Dalits and tribals and others from social, economic and moral bondage and to assist them to regain their human dignity.
- To achieve these by planning and implementing community education, formation and leadership trainings and by promoting savings, economic development activities, health and environmental programmes.
