CRDS organizes programmes and executes projects to protect the Environment and promote livelihood stability of the target people in Chengalpattu and Kancheepuram areas.
The Natural Environment theme aims to restore and conserve natural resources, enhance environmental sustainability, and strengthen community participation in environmental protection. The Environment Programme has three sub-programmes: The Renovation of Water Resources, Ecological Awareness, and Tree Plantation Programme. The project focuses on rejuvenating traditional water bodies such as ponds, tanks, lakes, and canals, promoting ecological awareness among community members, and increasing green cover through large-scale tree plantation activities.
The programme seeks to address environmental challenges such as water scarcity, declining groundwater levels, loss of biodiversity, soil degradation, and climate change impacts. Through community-based interventions, capacity building, and environmental education, the project will foster responsible environmental stewardship and contribute to sustainable rural development.
