About Chengalpattu Rural Development Society (CRDS)

Chengalpattu Rural Development Society, popularly known as CRDS, is the official organization for social ministry of the Diocese of Chengalpattu. It has been serving for the empowerment of the welfare disadvantaged people especially “Dalits” in the Kancheepuram and Chengalpattu districts with the 29 years of Excellency. The area of operation of Chengalpattu Rural Development Society is whole Kanchipuram and Chengalpattu districts consisting of 10 blocks. The underdeveloped situation of the people due to caste, poverty, illiteracy, Disabilities and lack of health facilities has motivated CRDS to organize people for their development and empowerment. Aims & Objectives of CRDS

To promote integrated human development, particularly of the socially and economically marginalized sections of the society, without distinction of caste, creed or color, through the best methods available.
To help the socially and economically disadvantaged groups, the landless, small and marginal farmers and other neglected sections of people to help themselves.
To combat effectively human misery, unjust exploitation and mass poverty and strive to establish a just, human, responsible, participatory, peaceful and prosperous Social order.
To promote freedom of the oppressed, distressed and poverty-stricken groups of children, women, Dalits and tribals and others from social, economic and moral bondage and to assist them to regain their human dignity.
To achieve these by planning and implementing community education, formation and leadership trainings and by promoting savings, economic development activities, health and environmental programmes.
